On the 13th and 14th<\/sup> of July EPC participated in the 2nd<\/sup> in-presence partner meeting of the Life SKEMA project, hosted by our partner OFICINA<\/a> at their campus. During these 2 days partners worked together in thematic groups to elaborate current ideas and next steps for developing the qualification frameworks for the HVAC, BACS and renewable energy system installers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The meeting was divided into 4 working sessions:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1. Smart and Green Installer qualification schemes and Units of Competencies<\/strong><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Partners elaborated the initial structure and objectives of the flexible training pathways designed to prepare building energy system installers for the green and digital transition. Rather than introducing entirely new qualifications, the courses will build on professionals\u2019 existing experience and strengthen their technical specialisation, while also providing shorter learning modules for workers who cannot attend a complete course. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The training pathways will primarily target professionals holding at least an EQF Level 3 vocational qualification, technical or vocational school graduates, technicians certified under Italian Ministerial Decree 37\/08 (categories A, B and C), and experienced workers whose prior competences can be assessed and validated through the relevant regional systems. A number of young professionals and recent graduates will also be encouraged to participate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2. Strengthening stakeholder engagement<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Stakeholders will play a central role in shaping the Life SKEMA training offer. Partners are expanding their network of public institutions, professional organisations, training providers and companies, while following up with organisations that have already been invited to participate. In the coming months, stakeholders will be asked to provide feedback on the proposed Life SKEMA qualification frameworks and the skills most urgently needed by the labour market in these sectors through dedicated questionnaires, meetings and focus groups. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

A subsequent consultation phase in early 2027 will allow stakeholders to further review and validate the project\u2019s recommendations, competency units and proposed training pathways before the pilot courses begin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

3. One-Stop Shop for trainers<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In order to ensure the qualification schemes are properly implemented and trainings delivered, Life SKEMA will develop a digital One-Stop-Shop where trainers can access the materials needed to deliver the project\u2019s courses and short learning modules. The platform will serve as a central gateway to teaching resources, project outputs and useful external materials. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the initial phase, access to training content will be limited to trainers within the Life SKEMA partner network. Following testing and validation, the resources may also be shared with other training providers and organisations through controlled access. The project website will host the OSS platform, creating a practical and coordinated resource for vocational education professionals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

4. Increasing Project visibility<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Life SKEMA will strengthen its public presence through events, online communication and direct engagement with schools, companies and training organisations. A key upcoming opportunity will be Smart Building Expo in Bari<\/strong> on 18\u201319 November 2026, where the project plans to participate in a shared training-focused exhibition space, combining network areas with an open classroom for presentations and interactive activities. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Partners will work together to develop the programme and encourage the participation of students, trainers, businesses and other stakeholders, similar to the Milan fair held last November. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The project will also continue publishing website articles and social media content to share results, promote activities and increase awareness of the Life SKEMA\u2019s contribution to the green and digital skills needs in the installation sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As the Communication Manager for Life SKEMA, EPC is proud to support the partnership in promoting the project and disseminating the results to a variety of audiences. We will also play a crucial role in analysing the feedback received from stakeholders over the coming months and helping to improve the qualification schemes and training modules to prepare the next generation of building energy system installers for the green and digital transition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
