LIFE SKEMA is a partner in the project, providing both technical support and coordination, project management, financial management, and monitoring. EPC is also responsible for the Communications WP and for verifying the quality and effectiveness of the training activities proposed in the project.
The LIFE SKEMA – SKill Ecosystem, Market-driven learning and Advanced training for green and smart installers project was funded by the LIFE Programme under the LIFE 2024 CET – Clean Energy Transition call, in response to the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD) and the European decarbonization targets for the building sector. This sector is responsible for 40% of energy consumption and 36% of CO2 emissions in Europe. The lack of up-to-date skills among installers is one of the main obstacles to the renovation process and transition to smart and green buildings. The LIFE SKEMA project aims to address this need by laying the foundations for a solid and ambitious training system to support the green transition in the building sector.
The project’s expected outcomes are:
One-Stop-Shop (OSS) Platform: A centralized hub for sharing resources among teachers, researchers, and experts, aimed at continuously updating trainers and improving the quality of continuing education (CVET) programs.
Pilot Academy: Development and testing of an innovative and replicable training model to strengthen installers’ skills in the following priority areas:
- BACS (Building Automation and Control Systems);
- HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning);
- Smart Energy Management.
Smart and Green Installer Academy (SIA) Network: Creation of a structured and sustainable network, with a post-project development plan, involving replicators and followers (training centers and partner schools), ensuring continuity, transferability, and expansion of the results achieved.
In addition to EPC, the project partners are: ENAIP NAZIONALE Impresa Sociale (Lead Partner), C.T.A. Consorzio Tecnologie Avanzate; CRESME Ricerche S.p.A.; Polytechnic University of Bari; Oficina Impresa Sociale. With the support of ENAIP NET and ANCE (Associazione Nazionale Costruttori Edili) as associated partners.
The project has a total duration of 48 months, from September 2025 to August 2029, and a total budget of €1,443,216, of which €1,371,055.20 (95%) is co-financed by the Life program. The total EPC budget is €243,639.00, with a contribution of €231,457.05.
