After four years of activities, the European Cities2030 project has reached its conclusion. The initiative involved more than 40 partners from over 19 countries, with the objective of supporting the transition towards more sustainable, resilient and inclusive food systems.
In a context characterised by increasing environmental, economic and social pressures, Cities2030 supported cities, local authorities and other stakeholders in developing innovative strategies to address the main challenges related to food production, distribution and consumption.
EPC’s Role in Coordinating Cities2030
EPC S.r.l. played a central role in the coordination of the Cities2030 project, contributing to activity management, progress monitoring and effective cooperation among the numerous European partners involved.
Through its extensive experience in managing complex European projects, EPC supported dialogue and collaboration among public authorities, research organisations, companies, civil society organisations and other stakeholders operating within local food supply chains.
Working in the field of food systems and natural resources, Cities2030 helped cities overcome the barriers affecting the transformation of their food systems, promoting integrated policies and long-term strategies.
Tools and Solutions for Urban Food Systems
The project provided cities and local authorities with tools, methodologies and guidelines to address growing food demand and ensure safer, more accessible and sustainable food systems.
Together with the project partnership, EPC contributed to the development of practical solutions aimed at:
- strengthening the resilience of local food systems;
- encouraging greater cooperation among local stakeholders;
- promoting sustainable production and consumption models;
- supporting the development of long-term urban food policies.

EPC’s Commitment Continues Beyond Cities2030
The conclusion of Cities2030 does not mark the end of the journey initiated through the project. EPC intends to continue working to improve the sustainability of local food systems, building on the expertise developed and the cooperation networks established over the four years of implementation, both in Italy and internationally.
With this objective in mind, EPC is currently preparing a new project proposal under the Erasmus+ Programme.
If selected for funding, the initiative will enable EPC and its partners to continue working on food and sustainability through training, environmental education and skills-transfer activities, with a particular focus on younger generations.
The experience gained through Cities2030 therefore provides a solid foundation for developing new European initiatives and continuing to contribute to more sustainable, informed and resilient food systems.
